Unforgettable ski school events in Ortisei Val Gardena

On December 31st, 2025, at 6:15 pm, the traditional New Year’s Torchlight Descent of the Ski School Ortisei will take place, an event that captivates locals and guests every year with its charm and beauty. In the glow of torches, the ski and snowboard instructors will descend the Furdenan and Palmer slopes, creating a magical and festive atmosphere to welcome the New Year.

On January 16th 2026 at 9:00 pm, an exciting Ski Show will take place, organized by all three ski schools of Val Gardena. We warmly invite everyone, young and old, to join us for an evening filled with joy, emotion and impressive ski performances.
The Ski Show will be held in Selva di Val Gardena on the Frëina slope, an event not to be missed.

On 22nd January 2026 at 3:30 p.m., the Kids Ski Show, organised by the Ski School Ortisei, will take place in the school area. This cheerful and engaging event offers young skiers the chance to demonstrate the skills they’ve gained during their group lessons, sharing their progress with joy and enthusiasm.

The ski instructors of the Ski School Ortisei will accompany and support the children throughout the demonstration, ensuring a fun and exciting experience for everyone. The young skiers will tackle the Palmer practice slope, ski small slaloms, compete playfully with their friends, and proudly show what they have learned.

On February 5th, 2026, the world’s longest torchlight descent, organised by the Ski School Ortisei, will take place.The meeting point is at 6:15 p.m. at the Seceda valley station. This extraordinary event promises emotion, atmosphere, and unforgettable memories. The impressive descent starts at the Seceda mountain station and follows the La Longia slope for about 10 kilometres, ending at the Val d’Anna hut.

The preparations begin at the Seceda mountain station, where the ski instructors gather and light the torches to create a magical symphony of light in the snow.

As soon as the descent begins on the Longia slope, skiers are immersed in a unique experience, enjoying spectacular views as they race through an atmospheric snowy landscape. The slopes offer a breathtaking setting and the light of the torches illuminates the way into the valley, drawing a luminous trail through the darkness.

Once arrived at the RifugioVal d'Anna, the participants will have the opportunity to taste traditional dishes (booking recommended +39 339 691 8772) and to end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere.

On February 7th 2026, at 4:30 pm, the “Local Kids Ski Show”, organised by the Ski School Ortisei, will take place on the Palmer slope. This special event celebrates the young ski talents of the Ortisei community and gives the children a wonderful opportunity to proudly showcase the skills they’ve developed throughout the season, a joyful celebration full of fun and community spirit.

On February 17th 2026, at 9:15 pm, the traditional Carnival Ski Show of the Ski School Ortisei will take place on the Palmer slope. This colourful event delights locals and guests every year. The ski and snowboard instructors will perform in funny and surprising costumes, creating an atmosphere full of joy and entertainment. Everyone is warmly invited to join the fun and enjoy an unforgettable evening.

On February 21st, 2026, the exciting Ski Jöring event returns, a unique “ski race” between the two ski schools and, of course, the riders with their horses. Watch as ski instructors and riders team up to compete for victory, bringing plenty of action and entertainment. The spectacular event will take place in Val d'Anna, near the valley station of the Seceda cable car. A highlight you won’t want to miss!

For those who don’t want to say goodbye to winter too soon, Val Gardena hosts the annual “Spring Race” – a fun obstacle race on skis or snowboards. Participants compete in groups, each accompanied by a ski instructor, and face different games and challenges along the famous “La Longia” slope. The race ends right in the center of Ortisei, where the teams are welcomed with cheers and a big party. And the funniest part? Every group is in costume – from simple outfits to imaginative handmade creations. This event attracts locals and visitors each year, bringing everyone together for an unforgettable day of fun.

Every year, on Seceda surrounded by the breathtaking Dolomites of Val Gardena, the famous and longest giant slalom race in the world takes place. Starting from the top of Seceda at 2.518 m, the course runs all the way down to the Col Raiser valley station near Selva at 1.485 m. Athletes must tackle about 6 kilometers, more than 1.000 meters of vertical drop, and 115 gates.

This winter marks the 27th edition of the race, which fascinates thousands of people every year: from locals and guests to active and former World Cup athletes. It is a favorite event both among amateur skiers and ski legends. The adult race takes place on March 28, followed by the children’s race on a shortened section of the slope on March 29.

Anyone wishing to compete alongside professionals, hobby skiers, or even ski stars should not wait too long to register: entries are limited to 700 participants and they fill up quickly.
